The following articles were written by Derwin Brown during his work as a
columnist for "The Champion" newspaper in Dekalb County where
he lived and worked. The Champion newspaper is a progressive community
based publication that presents an objective, informative and insightful
account of local and state issues.
Some of the articles that Derwin
wrote in his "Tell It Like It Is" column dealt with issues
pertaining specifically to Dekalb County whereas others dealt with more
general social, political and cultural issues from a historical and
philosophical perspective. One element that is common to all of his
